Examples of Criteria and Parameters to Evaluate Conviviality

Confidence in the environment and in the other people in the group

Secured information: We propose to set security levels, whereby each level is represented by a group, for example level 1 (low) and 2 (high). These groups will overlap with other local groups.
  • Ex: City residents can fill in information such as name, (verified) address and telephone/email They then receive a key (code number) to allow for their secured identification (high security level 2). All other users default to low level 1.
  • User reputation: Evaluation given by other users when they get useful advice from a user.

Group size (density)

Groups may have different size requirements to achieve conviviality; some groups may need to be small (like filling out forms) others large (news forum) depending on tasks performed,
topics, etc.
  • Moderator decides when group should scale up/down
  • The group ”ideal” size depends on users’ level of activity in the group, e.g. the number of tasks performed, the number of users actually present, the ratio between roles.
  • Group division: Initially set a default threshold however an adaptive threshold would be more appropriate to update groups’ specific needs.
  • The decomposition into sub-groups, for example, can be based on users’ roles and activity levels such as number of downloads and/or mouse clicks over an action window (hour/day)etc.
