They are an alternative to wired technology, so they should offer at least the same characteristics in terms of performance and safety. Wireless multihop networks include all networks whose nodes have wireless communication and in each communication between source and destination there are several intermediate nodes, which are responsible of forwarding packages. In such scenario, there exist some problems which seriously affect the performance of the network. Currently there are different protocols to solve these problems. They do not take all the advantages that these networks could provide. In a wireless multihop network, the stations are not able to retransmit immediately packets in a store-and-forward manner. Retransmissions need to be deferred to achieve an optimal utilization of the channel. Objective of this work is to study how such deferred access can be realized in wireless multihop networks.
