Net-Topology (Roles)

  • In computeral Networks some devices have special roles to ensure the functionality of the network
  • In a Wired Network Routers are responsible for the transmission of data between different segements of the network to send the data closer to desired destination
  • Ordinary devices are not able/not allowed to fulfill the role of routers
  • In the field of Mobile Computing the functionality of the network often needs ordinary devices act as routers
  • If each device an mobile network acts as a participant and a router at the same time, other roles of the devices are possible, e.g. if the routing is done in a hierarchical way (see Uniform Protocols and Non-Uniform Protocols)

"Net-Topology (Roles)" is mentioned on: Ad-Hoc Networks | Mobile Computing (Dimensions)
